Black Straw
This is a drawing I've been working on for some time now and I just can't finish it, I feel as though it's missing something. Any suggestions?
The key
A poem that gives both my pencil and pen voice. I was also hoping that people who use different tools for example, camera, paint brush, carving knife, keyboard etc. would enjoy this as if it were the voice of their tools too.
The key
I unfurl souls so dark they enlighten the world
And souls so bright they give and take the gift of sight
If you can not see with me the truth of my brilliance has blinded you
If you can not feel with me the mystique of my darkness has confounded you
With me you’ll be touched as though my every word has subdued and bound you
As though my very art has fell from the blue and surrounded you
It is true that there is no escape from all I create
I am the key to the soul
With my power a universe is given shape
But it is you who holds all control

We may not be able to talk to each other right now but we both know you're bound to discover this page sooner or later and these words will be waiting on you.
You need to change. Stop celebrating the problem and learn to celebrate the solution; Stop wanting to be a carbon copy of our parents past mistakes. Drugs, alcohol, violence, and sex abuse are not our strengths, they are our weaknesses. Lost souls, wayward children, since when did they become our heroes? Think, why are they your heroes?! Were we not supposed to be their heroes? Can we not create or find better images of strength in numbers than a gang? Are there no better examples of cunning, intellectual, ambitious, men and women than those lost souls in our streets?
Why is it cool to be lost and why is it weak to be found? If a child doesn’t drink like you drink, smoke what you smoke, or target what you target, why is he/she the enemy?! If a child isn’t ready to give up their virginity, or their innocence, or what they believe in to you, why is she/he then made an outcast? I don't believe the only options here are ‘their church’ or ‘your darkness’?
And it’s not that I condemn the streets you've embodied, everyone in them has always been just as much apart of my family and friends as yours, I'm not turning them into the enemy here. I feel for them and I believe they want to be free even if they don’t, but this isn't for them it's for you. You may be lost and you may or may not know how you got that way, but I promise you it’s never too late to remember where you were going or find a path to where you’d rather be. For those of us who have found our way through this madness it seems important to remind people who are trapped that there is hope for escape. Yes, you were born into a trap but what are you going to do about it? You can either break free in a big enough way so that others will be able to follow you or help turn it into a much worse trap for the next generation to be born into. Become the hero in this life and for once not aspire to be the villain in your children’s stories. For you, villainy has always been easier but you have to choose the harder path for your self. I believe the highest level of glory and peace is achieved when we walk a path in life that children can follow without the risk of losing their freedoms and at worst their little lives.
I won’t be perfect, no one is, but given the chance to at once embrace my dreams I hope to prove that even a community that has developed the symptoms can still cure this social disease before it conquers the spirit and takes the soul. Share this ambition with me: To become the role model, the hero, and the greatest inspiration to our family the world over as well as to have earned a place in their hearts as a number one dad, a loyal husband, an irreplaceable friend, and an invaluable teacher. This, in my opinion, is to have lead the only life that in death is worth remembering.
I didn't mean to preach to you, even though I 'm sure that I have, I only meant to plead for you to come back before you make a final mistake that takes you away from us forever.
P.S. I plan on posting this everywhere until you find it
